Just an hour north-east of Johannesburg and half an hour from Pretoria lies the Kevin Richardson Foundation Reserve. Nestled between the Bobbejaansberge and straddling the Boekenhout spruit, the reserve forms part of the Dinokeng Game Reserve, and is the home of the ‘Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary’.
The sanctuary is home to lions (as well as leopard and hyena) rescued from captive-breeding and cub-petting facilities. Enjoy a guided tour of the sanctuary while learning about the challenges facing lions today and the work we are doing here at the Kevin Richardson Foundation.
A guide will drive you between the sanctuary enclosures on a game viewer, giving you a chance to take photographs and ask questions.
This tour is suitable for people who prefer to have the guide all to themselves and more privacy.

Kevin Richardson Foundation (Lionwhisperer)
We were three guests and enjoyed learning about the Foundation and its very important work. We were welcomed by Brenton, who clearly enjoys his work and who shared his knowledge and experience of the animals under the care of the foundation. We were able to get close up photos of these wonderful creatures and learn about the background and rehabilitation. Thank you. - Peter

Had a wonderful time on my tour of the Kevin Richardson lion sanctuary. My guide was the very special and knowledgeable Caroline. How amazing to see the animals you have been watching for years on Facebook/Instagram in real life. Now when you watch them you understand where they are and can put it all in perspective. Even got to meet the cheeky man himself, Kevin is fabulous to talk to and is such a character, you can see where his Lion family gets it from. 100% recommend - Debbie
